About Relic of Power

Relic of Power is a free multiplayer territory conquest game built around expanding your kingdom across a shared grid one tile at a time.

I originally started making it because I missed Empire Attack, an old browser strategy game I played casually around 2010-2014. After years of occasionally checking to see if it or something like it had come back, I finally decided to throw my own hat in the ring and make a game inspired by the parts of it I remembered most fondly.

If you played Empire Attack, some of Relic of Power will probably feel familiar. Custom flags, growing population, grid based expansion, coins, mountains and rivers, goofy NPC kingdoms, world maps, and the race to own the most territory before a session ends.

Start from your capital and expand across the map one tile at a time. Spend population to settle empty land, carve through mountains, cross rivers, scoop up naturally spawning coins for big bursts of population, or start eating away at somebody else's kingdom.

Borders matter. The more of your territory touching a tile, the stronger you are when attacking it. Keep your own kingdom connected to your capital too. If part of it gets cut off, those isolated tiles will slowly start to decay.

There are also slow and occasionally questionable NPC kingdoms scattered around the map. They're usually easy enough to outsmart, but extremely satisfying to swallow whole.

Other players can join while a campaign is already running, so borders and rankings can change quickly. Use the world map to scope out the competition, find somewhere quiet to expand, or notice that someone on the other side of the world has gotten much bigger than you'd like.

The Relic of Power sits near the middle of every map and gives a major advantage to whoever can control the land around it. Other relics are hidden throughout the world and give more specialized bonuses for things like population, mountains, and water.

Magical orbs give population bonuses to the surrounding areas and longer campaigns add gold, diamonds, and a store where you can buy upgrades for the session duration.

When the timer hits zero, whoever owns the most land wins.

How to Play

  1. Drop in any time to campaigns lasting anywhere from 15 minutes to an entire week.
  2. Wait for population to build at your capital.
  3. Click one of your tiles or a neighboring tile to spend your stored population there.
  4. Expand into empty land, clear terrain, collect coins and orbs, or attack neighboring kingdoms.
  5. Use connected borders to attack more efficiently and keep your own territory connected to your capital.
  6. Find relics to get big bonuses. Surround them to keep the boon for yourself, or touch it with just one side so others can get it as well.
  7. Keep an eye on the world map and rankings to see what everyone else is up to.
  8. When the campaign ends, the kingdom controlling the most territory wins.

If another player captures your capital, your controlled tiles go under their kingdom, but you can respawn and continue playing in the same session.

Controls

  • Click / tap a tile to place your stored population
  • Click and drag to move around the map

What Makes It Different

Relic of Power doesn't have armies of little units to move around.

Population builds over time, borders make you stronger, capitals keep your territory alive, and every tile you take changes where the next fight is going to happen.

I made Relic of Power because I missed Empire Attack and couldn't find another game that quite scratched the same itch. I wanted the simple stuff I remembered: huge coin cascades, custom flags, comeraderie turned competition and back again from one session to the next, and a leaderboard to bring everyone together.

Relic of Power keeps that familiar core and builds tons of new things around it in a modernized package and is free to play in your browser with no download, no energy timers, and no ad breaks interrupting the war.
